Copher earns NFCA All-West Region Third Team Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced the 2017 NFCA Division III All-Region softball teams and first-year first baseman Kaitlynn Copher from Tomball, Texas was a third team selection. 

The squad is comprised of three 15-player teams in each of the country's eight NCAA regions.

Copher had a sensational freshman campaign for the Pirates, leading SU at the plate with a .415 average. She had a team-high 51 hits and 38 RBIs, a number that placed her at the top of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC). Copher posted 14 extra base hits including two home runs and three triples. 

Copher was also an All-SCAC First Team selection and earned a spot on the SCAC All-Tournament Team after going 5-12 during the championship. 

All-Region players are nominated and selected by NFCA member coaches in each of the eight Division III regions. First Team All-Region choices are eligible for selection to the NFCA All-America team, which will be announced the evening of May 24 online at NFCA.org and in person at the NCAA Division III Championship banquet in Oklahoma City.
