Nine earn All-SCAC honors

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Southwestern softball had nine athletes earn all-conference honors including three first team selections during the ceremony prior to their SCAC Championship game Friday in Seguin.

First-years Lindsey Longuet, Kaitlynn Copher and McKenna Zinke earned first team honors after stellar freshman campaigns. Longuet, a pitcher from Missouri City, Texas, is second in the conference in wins, strikeouts, saves and shutouts this season. She boasts a 1.89 ERA which ranks her third in the SCAC.

Copher, a first baseman from Tomball, Texas, is fourth in the conference in hits with 46 on the season and leads the SCAC in RBIs with 36. Her .414 batting average is fourth in the conference and adds a .595 slugging percentage.

Zinke, a catcher from League City, Texas,  is fourth in runners caught stealing with eight and fourth in passed balls with just four on the year. She is hitting .319 this season with a .439 on base percentage and .574 slugging percentage.

Celeste Silvas, Andrea Hern, Sydney Scott, Taylor Curtis, Marissa Irvin and Paige McShan all earned second team selections.

Southwestern will face Trinity University in the SCAC Championship at 6 pm.
