Softball sweeps final day of regular season play

GEORGETOWN, Texas - Even though Southwestern had the #2 seed locked up the Pirates defeated Trinity University in both games Sunday to end the regular season with a 25-11 overall record, 18-4 in the SCAC. 

Trinity led 3-1 heading into the bottom of the third, but Southwestern used a steady stream of runs to take the win. Paige McShan went 2-2 in game one while Kaitlynn Copher went 3-4 in the win. Chandler Smith earned the win on the mound, her second of the weekend. 

Game two saw the Pirates' bats go quiet. SU scored one run in the bottom of the first and were able to hold off the Tigers to take the 1-0 win. McShan had the lone RBI for Southwestern. Lindsey Longuet earned the win in the circle. 

Southwestern will enter the SCAC Championship as the #2 seed and will face the winner of game two on Friday at 6 pm in Seguin, Texas.
