GEORGETOWN, Texas – Southwestern's bats were held quiet in the first game as they fell 3-2 to but came to life again in game two for a 6-1 win.
Millsaps struck first with two runs in the third inning but Taylor Curtis evened the count with one swing, a two-run homerun over the left field fence in the fourth.
The Majors took the lead back in the sixth on a two-out RBI single to left field by Hannah Doggett. Curtis once again smoked the ball to lead off the bottom of the sixth with a double to right center. Despite starting the inning with a runner in scoring position and advancing her to third with two outs the Pirates were unable to plate the game tying run, falling 3-2 in game one.
Southwestern took advantage of seven Millsaps errors in game two to lead early and took care of business in the field to win 6-1.
Lindsey Longuet got the win on the mound, scattering four hits with no earned runs in the complete game. Kaitlyn Copher went 2-3 with two runs scored and Berkeley Bacon added a 2-3 outing with two RBIs.
Southwestern improves to 2-4 on the year and remain at home to host Our Lady of the Lake on Saturday beginning at noon.
