Irvin earns NFCA Third Team All-Region honor

Junior utility player Marissa Irvin was a Third Team All-West Region selection in the 2015 NFCA report out Tuesday. 

Irvin was second on the team with a .413 batting average, posted 38 hits in 92 at bats with one double. He drove in 15 runs and scored 19 times in 33 games with a .460 on base percentage. She was 2-2 on stolen bases and had a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage with six putouts on the year. 

Irvin was also a First Team All-SCAC selection this season and had the second highest batting average and third highest on base percentage in the conference heading into postseason play.

Irvin is joined by fellow SCAC members Caitlynn Dykes of Trinity, Grace Estes of Texas Lutheran and Lauren Mercado of Trinity on the Third Team.

Southwestern ended the season with an 18-21 overall record. They entered the SCAC Championship as the #4 seed and fell to Schreiner University in the semifinals to finish in fourth at the tournament.
