After Southwestern (18-21, 12-9 SCAC) took a 3-1 lead going into the top of the seventh, Schriener responded with four runs thanks to the go ahead, two RBI single from Sarah Worrell to take a 5-3 lead.

The Mountaineers (10-30, 6-16 SCAC) would shut the Pirates chance of a comeback down in the bottom half of the seventh.

Cozette Palmer started the game for Southwestern, but was pulled after 0.1 inning as it seemed she was fatigued after her win earlier against Dallas. Alyssa Novander came in relief and did an excellent job despite taking the loss, pitching 6.2 innings and allowing only one earned run while striking out three.

Caroline Young finished 2-for-4 with a RBI for the Pirates while Ally Holland drove in a run.

Southwestern ends the season at 18-21 and in fourth in the SCAC.
