Softball drops two in San Antonio

Calumet College of St. Joseph outscored Southwestern 12-0 in the first three innings of a double header in San Antonio today as the Pirates fell 7-3 and 9-1 on Friday.

CC took a 7-0 lead into the final inning in game one but Southwestern battled for a comeback, posting three runs in the bottom of the seventh. Marisa Irvin started off the inning with a single up the middle and Jordan Kunz followed with an infield single. Michele Ramos' double plated both runners and Ramos was scored on Ashleigh Scott's single. Calumet was able to get a crucial double play to stop the run and closed out the inning for the win.

In game two, Calumet posted six runs before the Pirates even had a chance at the plate. Southwestern got one run back in the second on an error, but CC took it right back with one in third.

CC was able to keep the Pirates from getting on another roll and added one run in the sixth and seventh inning to hand Southwestern the 9-1 loss.

Southwestern committed eight errors in the pair of losses with 13 hits. Rosengren led going 4-7 from the plate on the afternoon including a 33 outing in game two. Cozette Palmer and Alyssa Novander both garnered one loss on the day.

The Pirates fall to 1-9 on the year while Calumet improves to 8-6. SU heads to Arizona for four games beginning on Sunday against Baldwin Wallace at 7 p.m. CST.
