LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - KAYLA IRVIN OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a senior utility from Houston, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Softball Hitter-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, February 3rd through Sunday, February 9th.
Irvin was outstanding at the plate for the Pirates as she led Southwetsern to a come from behind over Pacific (Ore.) to earn a split on Opening Day.
At the plate she posted an unbelievable .800 batting average, going 4-5 with seven RBI's, two homeruns, one double and two runs scored. She put game one to rest with a monsterous three run homerun for the 15-10 victory.
Irvin had a staggering of 2.200 slugging percentage and .857 on base percentage over the weekend.
The Pirates won game one 15-10 before falling in five innings 16-4 to Pacific University out of Oregon. Southwestern hits the road for their next game, playing Hardin Simmons University in Abilene on Thursday before returning home Saturday to face George Fox.
