LOUSIVILLE, Ky. – Four Southwestern University softball players were honored by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association being named All-America Scholar Athletes. Christina Crandall, Abigail O'Connor, Karen Ramirez and Caroline Young all received the honor announced by the association.
The quartet of players helped the Pirates to a 34-13 overall mark and a berth in the NCAA III Regional Tournament. The Pirates also finished 13-3 in league play and claimed the program's second SCAC Tournament championship.
The award is given to any player submitted by a member coach who achieved a 3.50 grade point average or higher during the 2012-13 academic year. The award is the second component of the association's academic award program.
