SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Southwestern split with Our Lady of the Lake on Wednesday afternoon winning the first 7-1 and losing the second 8-4.
The Pirates opened the scoring in the top of the second. Michelle Ramos reached with a one out walk and Linsay Biggers singled to short to give the Bucs' runners on first and second. Then Abigail O'Connor reached base after the left fielder dropped a deep fly ball that allowed Ramos to score and Biggers to take third. Biggers crossed the plate on a wild pitch to give Southwestern the 2-0 lead.
OLLU got their lone run of the game in the bottom of the third. Martinez led off with a single up the middle and later scored on a single to left by Moreno to cut it to 2-1.
In the top of the fourth, the Bucs' loaded the bases after Ramos singled and Biggers and O'Connor both drew walks. Karen Ramirez followed with a 2 RBI double to left to extend the lead to 4-1. Southwestern added some insurance runs in the seventh as Stacy Rosengren blasted a three run homer to right for the eventual 7-1 final score.
Kelsey Kingston pitched a gem for the Pirates and struck out five en route to the complete game win. Stacy Rosengren and Michelle Ramos led the team offensively in game one of the doubleheader.

The visiting Pirates got off to a hot start in game two. Ramirez and Scott hit a pair of singles and were both driven in on a single by Kayla Irvin. Irvin scored after stealing third and home to give Southwestern the 3-0 advantage.
The Saints scored a run in the first and tied the game with two runs in the third. They broke the game open with four runs in the fourth that included a three run homer from Ramirez to make it 7-3.
The Bucs' added a run in the sixth after Ramos reached on an error and scored on a double to center by Biggers. OLLU scored in the bottom half of the frame, retired the Pirates in the seventh, and secured the 8-4 win.
Southwestern was led offensively by Kayla Irvin, who went 2-4 with two runs batted in and scored. The Pirates stay at .500 for the season with a 6-6 record following the doubleheader and Our Lady of the Lake moves to 10-4.
The two teams square off in a doubleheader again this Saturday, March 2, beginning at 1:00pm in Georgetown, Texas.
