Big Bats Sweep Crusaders on Sunday

IRVING, Texas - The Pirate softball offense continues to light up opponents and did so again on Sunday with 26 hits in two games, winning 6-0, 6-0 on Sunday afternoon over the University of Dallas. The wins improve SU to 9-1 in the SCAC and tied for first place in the West.

Southwestern was slow out of the gate in game one, needing five innings to rev-up offensively, but starting pitcher Lyndsy Maus was untouchable on the mound, allowing just three hits through the entire game.

With one run in the fifth and sixth inning the Pirates added some breathing room with a four-run seventh to win 6-0.

The Pirates maintained the momentum into game two and scored two runs to start the contest and never looked back, adding runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to another 6-0 win.

Karen Ramirez spearheaded the attack for SU, going 5-6 from the plate on the day.

Southwestern improves to 22-13 on the year and 11-1 in the SCAC. They close out their regular season in San Antonio this weekend in a huge four-game series with Trinity. The winner of the series takes the #1 seed in the West into the SCAC Conference Tournament. Game one on Saturday begins at 1 p.m.
