TYLER, Texas - Southwestern softball outhit UT Tyler in game one but fell 3-1 and were held to just two hits in an 8-0 run-rule loss in game two to fall to 4-5 on the year.

SU got the first hit and base runner of the game in the top of the first, but the Patriots were the first on the score on a double steal in the bottom half of the inning to take a 1-0 lead. UTT added runs in the third and fourth innings to lead by three, 3-0, after four.

Southwestern answered in the top of the fifth with a run of their own. Ashleigh Scott started things off in the inning with a single down the right field line but was thrown out at second on Karen Ramirez's fielder's choice. Abi O'Connor singled up the middle, advancing Ramirez to third and Amanda Ambrose (pictured) drove her home with a single to right field. After five innings the Pirates had made a dent in the lead, cutting it to two 3-1.

The Pirates got runners on and all the way to third base in the sixth and seventh innings, but weren't able to complete the trip as they fell 3-1 in game one.

Ambrose and Tessa Galloway both posted two hit outings. Zearfoss received the loss allowing three runs, none earned, on five hits while walking none and striking out six.

Game two was all UT Tyler as the Patriots unloaded in the second inning, posting six runs on four hits with two Southwestern errors. UTT added one run in the fourth and another in the sixth while holding the Pirate offense at bay to a six inning, 8-0 win.

Kaitlyn Pavlicek and Ambrose were the lone Pirates to post hits. Lyndsy Maus garnered the loss while Tomason got the win for the Patriots.
