Women's Soccer Suffers First Loss to War Hawks
GEORGETOWN, Texas – After a phenomenal winning streak by the Southwestern University Pirates, women's soccer had their first loss to McMurry University this Sunday afternoon.

In the first half, the War Hawks were fast to attack the Pirate's goal. McMurry's Alyssa Daily who used her speed against the Pirate defense to make the first goal of the game, making the game 1-0 in the first half.  Southwestern, which has experienced being down before in their game against East Texas Baptist, still tried to move the ball around to try and penetrate the War Hawk defense. The first half ended with the Pirates still down one goal, but with another half to play, the Pirates had a chance to come back.

However, in the second half Southwestern still seemed to struggle getting the ball into McMurry's box. The War Hawk defense doubled up on the Hallie Rutherford, who has been crucial in setting up the passes for the Pirates to score. With the War Hawks able to defend the Pirates offense, McMurry was able to make another goal to make the Pirates come back in the game much harder.

The Pirates were unable to break through the War Hawks defense and the game ended in the first Southwestern loss 2-0.

Up next, the Pirates hit the road for their first weekend off of Varsity Field to take on Schreiner University on Friday, Sept. 27 at 6 p.m., and then Trinity University on Sunday, Sept. 29 at noon
