Pirates and Bulldogs Play to Scoreless Draw in Season Finale

GEORGETOWN - In the final game of the regular season, the Southwestern University women's soccer team and the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs played to a scoreless draw on a chilly Friday evening at Varsity Field.

The Bulldogs, the No. 3 team in the SCAC, out shot the Pirates 26-5 including a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks, but senior Kylie Hunt made her Senior Night a memorable one, tallying 12 saves in the contest to earn the draw.

TLU saw some chances late in the second half and in the extra time periods, but Hunt turned them away to keep it even.

The Pirates saw an excellent evening from sophomore Grace Maynard, coming away with plenty of 50/50 balls, turning away the Bulldog offense and turning it into attack opportunities. Southwestern also got great games from in their defense from Mady Akers, Alli Moff, Romie Reyna, and Angelica Grayson.

Southwestern moves to 3-12-1 overall and 3-8-1 in the SCAC. Depending on the results of Centenary and Austin College tomorrow evening, the Pirates will either earn the No. 5 seed against Centenary or the No. 6 seed in a rematch with TLU at the upcoming SCAC Championship.

The championship starts on November 3rd on the campus of Centenary College in Shreveport. More information will be made available after the entire regular season concludes.
