IRVING, Texas - Brenda Pedroza scored the only goal of the match to give Southwestern an important 1-0 overtime road win over the University of Dallas Sunday afternoon. With the win the Pirates improve to 3-8 in conference play and into a tie for fifth place in the SCAC.
Southwestern took an aggressive stance throughout the game and led 19-10 in shots including the only two shots of the overtime frame.
After a scoreless regulation the Pirates got to work in overtime. Romie Reyna lofted a free kick into the box that found the head of Brenda Pedroza who banked it into goal off the left post and into the netting.
Southwestern has one final weekend of conference play as they return home to face Texas Lutheran University on Friday evening at 5 pm.
