Escajeda earns SCAC Defensive Player of the Week honor

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Mariah Escajeda, a freshman goalkeeper form Boerne, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for matches played from Monday, October 21st through Sunday, October 27th. 

Escajeda recorded her third and fourth shutouts this season with a pair of shutouts over the weekend. She recorded eigth saves and allowed no goals in 180 minutes of action, helping the Pirates set a new SU record for most conference wins in a season. 

For the season, Escajeda is leading the SCAC in shutouts per game with four shutouts. She is second in the SCAC in save percentage with a total of 60 saves and a percentage of .822. 

The Pirates, 10-7 overall and 9-2 in the SCAC, close out regular season action on Friday against league-leading and conference rival Trinity at 6 p.m.
