Pirates come up short against UT-Dallas

GEORGETOWN – The Southwestern University women's soccer team was unable to overcome the momentum swing in the first half as UT-Dallas took a 4-2 win Friday night in non-conference action.

The Pirates fell to 1-4 on the season while the Comets picked up their first win to move to 1-4 on the year. Southwestern will quickly return to action on Sunday as they host UT-Tyler to continue non-conference play.

The Comets took the lead when Sarah Borg scored on an empty net after a collision with the Pirate goalkeeper left the net open. The goal was the second of the game for Borg who would complete a hat trick in the 83rd minute putting the game out of reach.

Southwestern was able to strike early as Lindsay Jakszta pushed her second goal of the season past the Comet goalkeeper. Her goal came in the first 60 seconds of the game as Sarah Bevins finished the assist from just outside the box.

The Pirates would add their second goal in the 56th minute on a goal from Carol Bentley. Bentley's goal cut the UT-Dallas lead to 3-2 giving the Pirates hope early in the second half before Borg's final score.

UT-Dallas outshot the Pirates 16-7 as they controlled most of the game after Borg's second goal in the 38th minute.
