Women’s Soccer Makes it Two-in-a-Row With Win Over Austin

SHERMAN, Texas – After 71 minutes of scoreless action Southwestern's Danielle De Los Santos scored the game winner as Southwestern defeated Austin College 1-0 to win their second game in a row.

Most of the action took place in the midfield as the teams battled for possession. Austin College came out aggressive and earned the first two shots of the game while Southwestern closed the half on a high note, getting two of the last three shots of the half.

The second half remained a back and forth game as the teams traded shots, but it was SU that made it count as Allie Dillon found De Los Santos for the go-ahead goal. The Pirates buckled down defensively and secured the win by allowing just four shots the remainder of the game.

AC held a slight advantage on shots, 11-9, while each team had two corners. Sarah Nonaka earned the shutout while recording four saves in goal while the 'Roos Emily Brockette posted three saves.

The Pirates improve to 3-8 on the season and 1-2 in the SCAC with the win. They remain on the road to face new SCAC-opponent, Centenary College, on Sunday at 3 p.m.
