Donnelly Soars to Career High In Win Over N.C. Wesleyan
GEORGETOWN, Texas -- Senior Hayley Donnelly reached a career high of six goals in the match against the N.C. Wesleyan Bishops this Tuesday night where the Pirates came out victorious 19-9.

With both teams playing physical at the start of the game, Wesleyan was the first to put points up on the scoreboard within two minutes of the game. But this did not faze the Pirate offense as the team sank the next five goals. All those goals were unassisted as Haley Hurt, Raven GarciaMadison Godleski and Donnelly sparked the lead that the Pirates would keep for the rest of the game.

The Bishop's Ali Cucinotta, who also had a total of six goals, scored four goals for her team in the first half, but Donnelly matched her four goals, ending the half 10-6 Pirates lead.

Going into the second period, Wesleyan became more physical to try to catch up with the Pirates. However, Southwestern did not lay off attacking Wesleyan's cage and took every turnover and foul to score six goals in a row with no answer for the Bishop offense.  Julia Tape was also a crucial part to the Pirate defense, causing the Wesleyan turnovers and winning crucial ground balls.

With 12 minutes left in the game, Wesleyan scored three goals in a row, trying to make their way back into the game, but with the clock ticking down and the Pirates defense holding strong, Jillie Klumbach and Johnee Wolter were able to score two more goals for the Pirates. Donnelly also scored her sixth goal to end the game 19-9.

Along with her six goals, Donnelly also had two assists and three ground balls. Other standout players were Garcia and Natasha Perez-Krause, who contributed four goals, as well as Wolter who had two goals for the  Pirates.

Defensively, Tape had a total of five ground balls and Grace Maynard had four. Goalie Mckenna Zinke had a total of five saves for the Pirates.
