Women's Lacrosse Dominates Huntingdon Season Opener
IRVING, Texas –  In his first season as head coach of the Southwestern women's lacrosse team, Brice Queener and the team seized their season opener 23-5 against the Huntingdon College Hawks.

The Pirates had a big first half for the offense, holding the Hawks to three points. Within 15 minutes the Pirates were up 7-0 against the Hawks, who seemed to have trouble defending against Southwestern's offense. Huntington was able to break their scoreless streak but still could not keep the Pirates away from the cage. Going into the half the Pirates were up 13-3.

Ronni Winter and Hayley Donnelly were both the high scorers coming out of the first period, contributing three points each. Raven Garcia also scored two goals in the first half, and Madison Godleski also scored twice.

In the second period, the Pirates did not let up and continued with an aggressive offense and more goals against Huntington. Garcia, Jillie Klumbach and Johnee Wolter would control the second period and score multiple goals for the Pirates. Klumbach and Garcia would score two goals for the Pirates and Wolter tacked on three goals. As the clock counted down, Huntington would only score two last minute goals to end the game 23-5.

The team's leaders in points would tie with Garcia, Wolter, Winter and Donnelly who all scored a total of four goals each. Donnelly also had three ground balls following Grace Maynard who had four.

Coming up next weekend, the Pirates travel back to Dallas to play the Westminster Titans on Sunday, Feb 17 at 11:00 a.m.
