Women's Lacrosse Adds Adrianna Smith as Assistant Coach

The Southwestern University Pirates women's lacrosse team announced the addition of assistant coach Adrianna Smith to the coaching staff.

Smith joins the Pirates after graduating from Grand Valley State University (GVSU) with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies. She was a member of the GVSU women's lacrosse team, which was ranked as high as No. 8 and consistently in the top 20 for NCAA Division II schools.

Grand Valley State University won the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) regular season championship all four years of Smith's collegiate career, making the first NCAA Tournament in the program's history.

"We're really excited to have Adrianna join our coaching staff," Head coach Brice Queener said. "Her experience as an elite player, conference champion, and being part of the first team in her school's history to go to the women's lacrosse NCAA Tournament is extremely valuable for our team."

Smith received First Team GLIAC All-Conference and All-Academic honors. She hails from Cincinnati, Ohio, where she graduated from Lebanon High School and played on the varsity lacrosse team all four years, earning All-State honors.

Southwestern University's women's lacrosse program enters its sixth year of competition and will be led by Queener in his first year as the program's head coach. The Pirates' season begins Saturday, Feb. 9 against Huntingdon in Dallas.
