GREENCASTLE, Ind. - The Southwestern University women's lacrosse team could not recover from a slow start including a huge second half from DePauw University as the Tigers defeated the Pirates 18-7 on Friday afternoon at Reavis Stadium.

DePauw held a 36-27 advantage in shots as well as a 23-17 lead in ground balls. The Tigers also had the edge in draw controls at 15-12 and forced 26 Pirate turnovers. Southwestern was able to force 21 turnovers, but did not have enough on the day.

Senior Brenna Jobb gave SU a 1-0 lead in the first minutes, but DePauw responded with four straight goals and eventually opened up a 6-2 advantage. Southwestern was able to keep the deficit at four, trailing 8-4 at half, but the Tigers outscored the Pirates 10-3 in the second half to pull away for an 18-7 win.

Jobb finished with three goals in the contest while Ronni Winter, Allison Cook, Hayley Donnelly, and Johnee Wolter all added a goal. Freshman Jillie Klumbach had the lone assist for the Pirates. Cook added three caused turnovers, five ground balls, and five draw controls while sophomore Grace Maynard had two caused turnovers, three gorund balls, and four draw controls. 

Sophomore Haley Hurt had eight saves in 40 minutes of play while fellow sophomore Claire Harding played the final 20, notching two saves.

Southwestern falls to 3-8 overall and returns to action on Thursday as they hit the road to take on Hamline beginning at 7 PM.
