Rosendahl snags second Independent Player of the Week honor

GEORGETOWN, Texas – Colorado College's Annie DeFrino and Southwestern University's Christina Rosendahl earned the Independent Women's Lacrosse Schools (IWLS) Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week Awards for the week ending March 26, 2017 by a vote of the Independent Schools' Coaches. This is the first time that DeFrino has won the Offensive Player of the Week award and the second time that that Rosendahl has been honored with the Defensive Player of the Week award.

Offensive Player of the Week
Annie DeFrino, Colorado College, Senior, Attack

DeFrino, a senior from Norwalk, CT, was outstanding on attack for the Tigers in their four games this past week. DeFrino scored 16 goals, dished out three assists, picked up 11 ground balls, and caused three turnovers in a 3-1 week for Colorado College. DeFrino's best game came in an 18-21 loss to visiting St. Lawrence University where she scored five goals and picked up four ground balls. DeFrino's play has helped the Tigers to a 10-1 record this season! Colorado College next hosts a game against Williams College on Thursday March 30 at 6:00 p.m. before traveling to California for a pair of games against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on April 1 at 1:00 p.m. and Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on April 2 at 11:00 a.m.

Defensive Player of the Week
Christina Rosendahl, Southwestern University, Senior, Defense

Rosendahl, a senior from Austin, TX, was stellar on the defensive end winning 18 draw controls, picking up 11 ground balls, and causing five turnovers helping Southwestern to a 1-1 week on the road in Tennessee. Rosendahl's best effort came in a 23 -15 win against Birmingham Southern where she won 10 draw controls had three ground balls, and caused two turnovers. Rosendahl is the third Southwestern student-athlete to earn a player of the week award this season. The Pirates host their final home game of the season against Pacific University on March 30 at 6:00 p.m.

Nine institutions comprise the IWLS: Colorado College, Dean College, D'Youville College, Franciscan University, Northland College, University of Northwestern-St. Paul, Southwestern University, State University of New York – Canton, and the University of Dallas.
