After almost 500 votes in the last week, Southwestern University Athletics is proud to release the first of the Top 10 Moments from the 2013-14 school year.

Voting for the top moments of each sport started last Monday and ran through Sunday night as the votes for each moment were tallied. In close voting through all 20 Pirate sports we give your picks receiving honorable mention from 2013-14. (In alphabetical order)

• Men's Basketball: The Pirate men's basketball team battled back from a 13-point second half deficit to knock off No. 8 Mary Hardin-Baylor just before Thanksgiving break. Southwestern got a solid defensive effort holding the Crusaders to just 37 percent shooting on the night and just five points in the final four minutes for the 62-58 win. Sean Myers recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds while Ben Stiver scored a team-high 12 points.
• Women's Basketball: Chelsea Leeder closed out one of the greatest careers in the history of Pirate women's basketball ending with 1,635 points to put her in 8th on the SCAC all-time scoring list. She finished her career as the all-time leader in three-points at Southwestern and ranks 5th in the SCAC in three-pointers and 8th field goals made.
• Men's Cross Country: Six of the seven Pirates raced to personal best times helping Southwestern earn a fourth place finish at the SCAC Championships. Alex Medrano earned all-SCAC honors finishing 11th.
• Women's Golf: Ali Walden held off a relentless field at the 2014 SCAC Championships in late April as became just the third Southwestern golfer to claim the individual championship. The senior posted scores of 76 and 79 for a 155 – the score was also the best ever by a Pirate golfer for a 36-hole championship besting Marisa Mauldin's 2007 record by two strokes.
• Women's Lacrosse: The Pirate women's lacrosse team competed in their inaugural season as they opened the year with an 18-3 win over Hendrix College on February 7. In the first ever season for women's lacrosse on the Southwestern campus; the Pirates finished 7-9 as they won three of their final four matches to end the season.
• Men's Swimming and Diving: The Pirate men's swimming and diving team combined with the women to set 15 school records at the 2013-14 SCAC Championships in February. The final day saw Shelby Hall and Evan Jones both bested school records in the 200-yard butterfly with Hall finishing first while Kyler Wood broke his own school record in the 200-yard breastroke. The 400-yard freestyle relay team also swam to a school record on the final day of competition.
• Women's Swimming and Diving: The Pirate women's swimming and diving team combined with the men to set 15 school records at the 2013-14 SCAC Championships in February. Saturday's final day saw the Southwestern women set school records in the 400-yard freestyle relay as Kenly Gaynor set a new program best in the 200-yard butterfly.
• Women's Tennis: Marieke Visser claimed the first ever ITA championship for Pirate women's tennis as she won the ITA Regional "B Draw." Visser held off opponents from Schreiner, Trinity and Mary Hardin-Baylor en route to the title.
• Men's Track and Field: Joseph Quintero highlighted the 2014 SCAC Championships for the Pirate men's track and field team earning a share of Athlete of the Meet honors. Quintero scored 28 points for Southwestern, tying the effort of Stephen Mason from Trinity who shared the Athlete of the Meet award with Quintero. Quintero was first in the hammer, third in the shot put, third in discus and third in the javelin.
• Women's Track and Field: Lilly Duarte finished her stellar career at Southwestern earning team-high point total for the women and winning the 1500-meters at the 2014 SCAC Championships. Her outstanding effort in the 1500 saw her finish nearly 10 second ahead of second place as she became the first Southwestern student-athlete to win the event at the championships.
