Ryan joins women’s lacrosse staff

GEORGETOWN, Texas – Southwestern University women's lacrosse head coach, Matthew Grosso has announced the addition of Kelly Ryan to his staff for the program's first season this spring.

Ryan got her start in coaching in 2012 when she spent the summer as the head coach with the Long Island Liberty before pursuing a master's degree from Frostburg State University. She spent the 2011-12 and 2012-13 academic years serving as a graduate assistant on the Bobcat women's lacrosse team.

From 2007 to 2011, Ryan was a vital member of the Catholic University women's lacrosse team helping the Cardinals to four consecutive NCAA tournament appearances. She helped the Cardinals to a berth in the Elite 8 in 2008 and was a second-team all-Landmark Conference selection in 2010.

She also helped guide the Cardinals to four consecutive Landmark Conference Championships during her time at Catholic University and was a member of the Cardinal women's basketball team. Ryan has also spent time as a lacrosse instructor in New York and Virginia.

Ryan earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education in 2011 from Catholic University and received her Masters of Education with a concentration in special education from Frostburg State in 2013.
