Pirate Women Lead After First Round of Linda Lowery Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas - The Southwestern University women's golf team got their spring season off to a great start, shooting a 326 (+46) on Monday morning to lead after the first roun dof the Linda Lowery Invitational.

Concordia was second at 328 (+48) followed by Hardin-Simmons in third at 332 (+52). SCAC-foes Centenary (342) and Schreiner (347) rounded out the top five. The Pirates were first in Par 3 scoring (+8) and Par 4 scoring (+48).

Sophomore Emily Campbell led the way with a 78 (+8) on Monday to sit in fourth place. Campbell was impressive on the front nine, shooting a 37 (+2) including a birdie. 

Sophomore Leilani McDaniel shot a 79 (+9) to sit in fifth while freshman Julia Wofford shot an 84 (+14). Rounding out the team scoring was junior Valentina Olivieri-Puentes and senior Paige Greenan each shot an 85 (+15).

In individual action, junior Mikayla Miller had the top score of the day, shooting a 77 (+7) and sitting in second after one round of action. Junior Katie Dyo sits in seventh after shooting an 81 (+11).

Campbell, Miller, and McDaniel led the way in pars with nine each, good for third in the tournament. Dyo led the way in Par 3 scoring at -1 while Greenan was second at E. Miller was second in Par 4 scoring at +5 was Campbell was third in Par 5 scoring at E. 

The second and final round will begin tomorrow at 8:10 AM as the Pirates look to earn their first team win of 2018.
