Campbell Wins Individual Title at Crusader Collegiate Invite

KILEEN, Texas - Sophomore Emily Campbell finished with a two-round score of 145 (+1) to win the 2017 Crusader Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday morning at Stonetree Golf Club. The Pirates golf team placed second in the event with a team score of 637 (+61).

Mary Hardin-Baylor won the event with a two-round score of 622 (+46), shotting an impressive 305 (+17) on Monday. Southwestern shot a 322 (+34) to lock up second while Trinity was in third with a two-round score of 647 (+71). Rounding out the top five was Schreiner in fourth at 648 (+72) and Texas Lutheran in fifth at 676 (+100).

Campbell had a terrific final round, shooting a 71 (-1) to win the event by nine strokes. Campbell was the leader in the clubhouse in Par 4 scoring at +2, Par 5 scoring at -4, and birdies at 8. It is her first individual win as a member of the Pirates.

Junior Valentina Olivieri-Puentes placed eighth overall as she finished with a two round score of 160 (+14) while junior Mikayla Miller finished with a two round score of 167 (+21).

Rounding out the scoring for Southwestern was sophomore Paige Greenan with a two round score of 171 (+25) and junior Katie Dyo with a two round score of 172 (+26).

Southwestern will take a week off before returning to the course on October 16th and 17th as they travel to The Quarry Golf Club to compete at the Alamo City Classic in San Antonio.
