KILEEN, Texas - The Southwestern University women's golf team continued their hot start in 2017 as they competed at the Crusader Collegiate Invitational, shooting a first round score of 315 (+27) for the lead on Monday afternoon at Stonetree Golf Club.
Host Mary Hardin-Baylor sits in second with a 317 (+29) while SCAC-foes Trinity, Schreiner, and Texas Lutheran round out the top five with score of 327 (+39), 335 (+47), and 340 (+52), respectively.
Sophomore Emily Campbell shot a 74 (+2) to lead the field after the first round of play. Campbell led the field in pars with 12, Par 5 scoring at -2, and was second in birdies with two and Par 4 scoring at +3.
Junior Valentina Olivieri-Puentes also led the way in pars with 12 and is currently in second after shooting a 75 (+3) on the day. Junior Mikayla Miller sits in 12th after shooting an 82 (+10) on the afternoon.
Rounding out the scoring for the Pirates was sophomore Paige Greenan, who shot an 84 (+12), and junior Katie Dyo, who shot a 92 (+20) in the round.
Southwestern will look to try and pick up their second team title of the fall season as they compete in the final round tomorrow morning at 9 AM.
