LAWRENCVILLE, Ga. - Leilani McDaniel, a first-year from Austin, has been selected as the 2017 Freshman of the Year for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference as announce Wednesday. 

McDaniel finished in the top ten in five of eight tournaments in her first season with the Pirates including a pair of second place finishes to open the spring season. She averaged an 80.94 and nine strokes over par.

McDaniel earned All-SCAC Second Team honors after finishing eighth at the SCAC Golf Championships, posting a score of 168 through two rounds.
