BLANCO, Texas - Following the first round of the SCAC Championship, Southwestern sits in third place with a team score of 344.

Leilani McDaniel rallied from a rocky front nine to lead the Pirates with an 11-over-par 83 opening round, finishing the day in sixth place. Valentina Olivieri posted an 85 to finish tied for eighth while Paige Greenan shot an 87 for an 11th place finish.

Katherine Dyo and Mikayla Miller rounded out Southwestern with an 89 and 91, respectively.

Centenary's Jessica Varner leads individually with a three-over-par 75 while Trinity leads the team competition with a 377. Schreiner University sits in second at 339.

The championship will wrap up on Tuesday.
