Women’s golf shaves eight strokes to finish fourth

KILLEEN, Texas – Southwestern posted a 321 in the final round at the UMHB Lady Cru Invitational Tuesday at Stonetree Golf Club, finishing in fourth place.

Keeley Coburn had an outstanding day two with the lowest round of any Pirate in the tournament with a 77 to finish with a 163 and tied for 15th. Valentina Olivieri-Puentes matched Coburn with a 163 after an 85 in the second round.

Bernice Leonard came in 17th with a 164 (81-83) and Mikayla Miller at 167 (84-83) in 18th. Katherine Dyo had a huge second round, taking 14 strokes off her first round to post a 78 and finish tied for 21st with 170 strokes.

Anya Anders of Tyler Junior College won the event with a 145 (71-74) and Tyler JC won the team title with a 609.

Southwestern heads to the Golfweek Fall Invitational in Sandestin, Florida next to compete against the top teams in the nation October 11-13.
