Pirate women struggle on day two, finish second

KERRVILLE, Texas – After a first round 319 the Southwestern University women's golf team was not able to keep pace with host Schreiner as the Mountaineers edged the Pirates for a first place team finish Tuesday at the Club at Comanche.

 Ali Walden fired the low round on day one of the Schreiner Women's Shootout with a 76 on day one. However, Walden along with the majority of the Pirates struggled on day two with the senior firing an 81 on the second day of the tournament.

Bernice Leonard and Keeley Coburn just missed giving the Pirates two individuals in the top 10 as Leonard finished tied for 12th with a score of 79-83-162, while Coburn finished 14th at 80-83-163.

Alexis Gonzalez and Lauren Boone tied for 18th to round out the Pirates top four scoring identical scores of 167.

Southwestern finished 647 for the tournament as Schreiner posted scores of 3224-310 to finish with a 634 and win the tournament. Trinity finished third as NCAA-II finished fifth and Hardin-Simmons rounded out the top five teams.
