GEORGETOWN, Texas — Southwestern women's basketball struggled with turnovers and outside shooting once again against the Concordia Tornados, losing 55-46.
Freshman Jada Hollie continued to showcase an all-around game, leading the Pirates with 16 points on an efficient 7-for-13 shooting with six rebounds, two blocks, and a steal and assist. However, the team struggled overall, shooting just 18-for-47 (38.3 percent), including 1-for-9 from the 3-point line (11.1 percent).
Concordia shot worse from the field, hitting only 23.4 percent, but offset those struggles by getting to the free-throw line for 30 attempts, hitting 21, and making three more 3-pointers than the Pirates.
Falyn Taylor led Concordia with 12 points on 3-for-7 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds. Natalie Velardez posted a double-double for the Tornados, scoring 11 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
Southwestern drops to 1-2 with the loss while Concordia improves to 2-0 with both wins against Southwestern. The Pirates will hit the road Friday, Nov. 12, to play McMurry at 5:30 p.m.
