Trinity Defeats Southwestern Women's Basketball Team

SAN ANTONIO — Turnovers plagued the Southwestern University Pirates women's basketball team, who were stifled by the Trinity University Tigers' defense in a 70-38 loss. 

Southwestern turned the ball over 25 times, leading to a 27-13 Trinity advantage in points off turnovers. The Tigers generated 16 steals, fueling a transition attack that put up 20 fast break points. 

Noel Pratts was the lone Pirate in double figures with 13 points, shooting 5-for-10 from the field, including 1-for-2 from deep. She also hit two free throws and contributed five rebounds. 

The Pirates shot just 13-for-49 (26.5 percent) for the game, including 3-for-14 from deep. 

Abby Holland led Trinity with 27 points on 12-for-19 shooting with five rebounds, three assists, and two steals as the only Tiger in double figures. The Trinity bench outscored Southwestern's bench 23-11. 

With the loss, the Pirates drop to 5-13 on the season and 3-8 in conference play. Southwestern will host Texas Lutheran University on Friday, Jan. 31 at 7:30 p.m.
