Morris Resigns as Head Women's Basketball Coach

GEORGETOWN, Texas – Southwestern women's basketball head coach Lori Morris has resigned from her position after two seasons at the helm announced Director of Athletics Dr. Glada Munt.

"We are sorry to lose Coach Morris but we understand that this is an excellent opportunity for her professionally," said Dr. Munt. "We are appreciative of all that she has done for our department and our women's basketball program and wish her much success in her future endeavors."

Under Morris, the Pirates went 18-34 and finished in fifth place in the regular season both years, earning a spot in the SCAC Championship. Morris had six All-SCAC selections in her two seasons including one first team selection.

Morris has accepted a new coaching position at the NCAA Division I institution, the University of Texas at El Paso.

"I am so appreciative of the opportunity I was given to coach at Southwestern University," said Coach Morris. "It is an incredible institution filled with wonderful people. I love this team and will miss my players and colleagues immensely."

A national search has begun to find the next head coach for the women's basketball program.
