Women’s basketball falls in opening round of SCAC Championship

GEORGETOWN, Texas – Southwestern entered the tournament as the #5 seed and were unable to get rolling offensively, falling 65-58 to Schreiner University on Friday afternoon.

The Pirates led by four, 30-26, at the break and went up by six, 38-32 with just over five minutes to play in the third quarter. Schreiner got hot and tied the game just a minute and a half later. Once the Mountaineers took the lead they never relinquished it back to Southwestern.

Tori Carraway led the Pirates with 16 points and nine rebounds while Madison Edwards chipped in 14.

Southwestern ends the 2016-17 season with a 10-16 overall record.
