Rebounding propels Pirates to 65-54 win over Centenary

GEORGETOWN, Texas – Southwestern was +29 in rebounding margin to defeat Centenary College 65-54 on Friday night.

Behind the offensive juggernaut Tori Carraway the Pirates built a 14 point lead at halftime, 46-32, with Carraway posting 15 points on 5-6 shooting from the floor and free throw line.

Both sides went quiet in the second half offensively as they combined for just three field goals in the fourth quarter. Thankfully, the Pirates were strong from the free throw line, going 19-27 for the game.

SU shot 40% from the floor but committed 23 turnovers. Carraway led with her sixth double-double of the season with 19 points and 10 boards. Naomi Brown had a career night with her first double-double, posting 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Southwestern improves to 8-11 overall and 5-3 in SCAC action and remain at home to avenge their loss last week to Austin College. Game time is set for 4 pm.
