IRVING, Texas – Southwestern outscored the University of Dallas 22-7 in the second quarter and cruised to a 71-53 win Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • SU edged out Dallas in the first quarter and headed into the second with a slight four point lead, 18-14.
  • A steady stream of offensive coupled with a stout defense allowed the Pirates to build a big lead that they took into the locker room, 40-21.
  • A last second layup by Olivia Podaras pushed SU's lead to 20, 56-36, by the end of the third.
  • Southwestern was never threatened the rest of the way to take the 71-53 win.
