Fourth-quarter rally falls just short for women's basketball

GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Pirates outscored Trinity 25-15 in the fourth quarter but the deficit proved too large to overcome as Southwestern fell 66-57 Saturday night.   

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Despite shooting 60% from three-point range and 58.3% from the field in the first quarter Southwestern still trailed 23-18.
  • SU went ice cold in the second quarter and were held to 0 field goals and just one point to trail 36-19 at the break.
  • The Pirates slowly chipped away and pulled within eight points, 57-49, with four minutes remaining, but were unable to reach the summit as time ran out.
