WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Southwestern's offense stalled in the first quarter and the Pirates weren't able to recover as they fell 66-53 to Whitworth on Sunday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pirates made just one field goal in the opening frame and trailed 11-2 after the first 10 minutes.
- Southwestern sprung back to life in the second quarter, shooting 60% from the floor but were still outscored as Whitworth logged seven points from the free throw line. At halftime, SU faced a 10 point deficit, 33-23.
- In the third Southwestern was outscored 15-11 and watched their hole deepend to 14 points, 48-34.
- Southwestern outscored Whitworth in the fourth but were unable to pull close as they fell 66-53.
