GEORGETOWN, Texas – Junior forward Jordan Owens will look to hit a milestone in her first game of 2014, needing just eight points to eclipse the 1000 point threshold.
Owens currently leads the Pirates in scoring, averaging 14.5 points per game. While competing in the D3hoops.com Classic in Las Vegas over the winter break, Owens was named to the All-Tournament team and was on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week after averaging 24 points and seven rebounds in two games.
Owens and the Pirates open the second half of their season against former SCAC opponent, Millsaps, tonight. Southwestern averages 64.8 points per game while Millsaps is averaging slightly better at 66.4. The Majors are led by Velvet Johnson who is averaging 17.1 points per game, but only two other Majors average double figures.
The last time these two teams squared off was in the SCAC Semifinals in 2012 with Millsaps edging out the Pirates 63-55 to advance to the SCAC Finals.
Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. in the Robertson Center in Georgetown, Texas.
