Women's Basketball Crushes Centenary

SHREVEPORT, La. - Behind a record setting night from Jordan Owens, Southwestern destroyed Centenary 95-79 on Saturday evening to improve ot 6-2 on the year and 2-0 in the SCAC.

A huge second half led to the win as the game started out tight. Southwestern had a slight two point lead as late as 6:19 to go in the first half and led by just nine points, 45-36, at halftime.

Just as in games prior, SU came out of the break on fire and watched their lead balloon to 20 points, 60-40, less than four minutes into the second frame. Well-executed plays led to layups or free throws for Southwestern as the Ladies were never able to close the gap and the Pirates cruised to the win.

SU shot 41.3% from the floor and 43.5% from the three point line and was led by Owens' 34 points. That breaks the scoring record she tied earlier in the season of 32 points. Katelyn Bartell added in 13 points in the win. Centenary's Dionecia Warr led the Ladies with 27 points.

Southwestern remains unbeaten in SCAC play with the win. They return home and to non-conference action to face Concordia University on Saturday, December 15th at 3 p.m.
