Turnovers Cost Pirates

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Southwestern committed 26 turnovers in a 77-62 loss to Richard Stockton on Sunday afternoon and fall to 3-2 on the year.

The Pirates started out well, jumping out to an eight point lead 18-10 six minutes into the game but Richard Stockton went on a 15-0 through five minutes to steal the lead and push it to 10 points, 34-24. Southwestern closed out the half on a high note, pulling within one before the break, 34-33, with four points and three rebounds from Annie Bourne.

After the fifth tie of the game, 44-44, at the 15 minute mark of the second half SU went cold and allowed the Ospreys to go on a 15-1 run to build their lead back to 10 with 11:33 to go.

Richard Stockton lead by as many as 13 before the free throw shooting started, but nine points is as close as the Pirates could get before time ran out.

Jordan Owens led the way for Southwestern with her first career double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds, both team highs. The Pirates shot 34.9% from the floor and just 23.8% from three point range. LaTonya Oliver from Richard Stockton led all scorers and rebounders with 23 points and 12 rebounds.

The Pirates look to return to their winning ways as they open SCAC Conference action on Friday evening in Colorado Springs. SU's game against Colorado College is set to begin at 7pm CT.
