Hattan Places 16th out of 183 in Rhodes Invitational

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The men's cross country team had a great showing at the Rhodes Invitational, and placed ninth out of the 21 teams that competed.

The Pirates came out in 4th place for Division III schools and had a total score of 238. Southwestern was also the only team in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference to compete.

­In the Rhodes Invitational, John Hattan was the top finisher for the Pirates finishing 16th with a time of 26:50.90. Coach Andrew Diehl says, "Hattan ran a great race. He had a breakout race today." Other standout runners were Josh Im (27:21.10), Miles Griffin (28:45.90) and Nathan Botros (29:07.60). Diehl was pleased with the men's performance and says, "It was a great course and I'm very happy with our team. We grew a lot from this meet." 

 Up next the men's team will travel to San Antonio to compete in The University of the Incarnate Word meet next Saturday, Sept. 6.
