GEORGETOWN, Texas - Southwestern sophomore Joshua Im led the Pirates Cross Country team to a first place finish in the Pirate Opener held Friday evening at San Gabriel Park.

Im finished the course in 17:03.31 and was followed by freshman teammate Will Lord at 17:36.11. Concordia's (Texas) top finisher, Alejandro Salazar, came in third overall with a time of 18:39.05. Juniors John Hattan (18:47.86) and Austin Morrison (18:48.61) rounded out the top five overall finishers. Freshman Miles Griffin finished in eighth place with a time of 18:56.30 followed by junior Luke Ford in 11th with a time of 19:23.20.

The Pirates finished with 20 points to Concordia's 35 for the team victory.

Southwestern will be back on the course Saturday, September 16th when they take part in the TLU Invitational in Seguin. Race time is 8:30 a.m.
