Men's cross country finish third at Richard Romo Classic

SAN ANTONIO – The Southwestern University men's cross country was able to wait out the rain as they fought for a third place team finish at the Richard Romo Classic late Friday night.

A pair of Pirates earned top 20 finishes as Alex Medrano finished 14th and Charlie Hutchison finished 17th. Medrano covered the 5k course in a time of 17:49.1 while Hutchison earned a time of 17:56.9.

Joe Sponsel also continued his solid fall on the cross country team earning a time of 18:36.4 to finish in the top 30 and helping the Pirates to the third place finish.

Trinity finished first after placing four individuals in the top five as Texas A&M-International finished second.

Southwestern takes another week off before returning to San Antonio for the Alamo City Duals hosted by Trinity on October 5.
