Women's and Men's Cross Country Teams Both Capture Third Place

IRVING, Texas - The Southwestern University Women's and Men's Cross Country team both captured third place at the first event of the season on Saturday September 1st at the University of Dallas.

The race was a 6K race with Lilly Duarte showing well placing 2nd and only approximately 1 minute behind the first place runner.  Kara Koinis and Jillian Curran also showed well finishing in the top 20, Kara finishing 9th and Jillian coming in 12th.  

On the men's side they also finished 3rd as a team with Sam Martinez coming in 3rd Place in the 8K race. Also finishing in the Top 20 were Stephen Fuentes and Alex Medrano.

The course was very challenging and the teams had to fight through a very warm humid day.

The Pirate's next event will be on September 14th in San Antonio, Texas at the Richard Romo Cross Country Invitational.
