Men's Track and Field Opens SCAC Championships in Fourth

SAN ANTONIO – The Southwestern University Pirates men's track and field team finished Day 1 of the SCAC Track and Field Championships in fourth place.

Joshua Im opened up the 10,000 meters with a fourth-place finish, scoring a time of 34:02.56 while teammate C.P. Shaulis finished 10th with a time of 35:21.23. Brandon Jennings finished eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 11.84m.

Sam Grubbs finished second in the Hammer Throw with a distance of 42.90m, earning Second Team All-SCAC and teammate Mike May placed eighth (32.09m) and 10th in the Javelin (37.07m).

Competition resumes tomorrow with the women's 5000-meter final at 8:00 a.m., followed by the men's event at 8:30 a.m. Field events begin at 9 a.m., with the women's shot put and women's high jump as well as finals in the men's long jump and men's discuss.
