SAN ANTONIO - Tyler Adams posted three top-five finishes and set a new program record in the hammer throw to lead the Southwestern men's track & field team at the UIW Cardinal Invitational.

Adams won the hammer throw with a heave of 162-2 (49.43m), topping his career mark by nearly 10 feet, which he registered only a week ago. The Olden native also finished fourth in the discus throw and fifth in the shot put to pace the Pirates.

Gregory McDade added a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter dash. His performance of 50.76 seconds was the best among Division III participants at the meet.

Southwestern will return to competition on Thursday, April 13 at the McMurry Open in Abilene.
