SAN ANTONIO – The Southwestern University track and field team competed in the two-day UIW Invitational in its final meet for the conference championships.

The Pirates earned three top-five finishes at the meet, including two in field events.

Tyler Adams posted a school record in the discus throw with a toss of 40.13m, which was good for fourth place. Adams also finished fifth in the hammer throw (36.51m).

Ryan Pace placed fifth in the 110-meter hurdles after crossing the line with a time of 16.55 seconds.

Sam Grubbs also finished sixth overall in the hammer throw with a heave of 34.29m.

Southwestern will participate in the SCAC Championships April 22-23 in Seguin.
